It’s been about a week since my baby shower. I have dreamt of planning my first baby’s shower since I can remember. I always have enjoyed attending baby showers with my momma when I was younger and I can remember mentally jotting down ideas of themes, decor and food for my special day, one day. Now that my shower has came and gone, I can honestly say it was a dream of a baby shower. I have many people to thank for making the day so special but especially my Momma. She was so on board with everything I desired and made it happen to the best of her ability with help from many of my closest friends and family. It was beyond what I could have hoped for. So thank you sweet friends, family and Momma.
Choosing the theme for my shower wasn’t very hard. As soon as I knew I was having a baby boy I knew I wanted to somehow implement safari animals into the theme of his shower and nursery. Of course I ran to Pinterest for inspiration and found tons of ideas that I was able to build off of and came up with the perfect tropical/safari theme that I believe is the perfect fit for our little man. Feel free to check out my Pinterest board below for all the inspo.
When my guest arrived I wanted them to feel welcomed and like they were coming to celebrate so I was sure to put a good amount of effort into the entry way to the shower!
The Fig plant is my personal Fig from home. His name is Chuck Fig Bass and lets just say he really shined on this special day! Nothing says a party like Balloons! I found these balloons on Etsy and was instantly obsessed! I had to have them.
I was so surprised to see this cute paper garland around the entry door when I arrived to my shower! My friend’s church had just had their last day of Vacation Bible School which was also a safari theme, so they were able to snag this beauty while tearing down the previous day. They put it up without me knowing and I was happy they did it was the perfect touch to our little entry way.
One of my sweet hostesses bought Winston the book in the photo above and we decided to use it as a guest book. I loved being able to go home and read all the sweet wishes from all my guest. I can’t wait until Winston can read them too.
I am not very creative when it comes to decorating but thankfully I have friends who are. Leading up to the shower I just purchased random things that I felt would go along with the theme hoping we’d be able to put them all together and pull this thing off. Luckily, with the help of my creative and talented friends we were able to make it happen. Thanks Syd, Em, Ciara and Drea for helping decorate the night before! ♥ I’ll link the leaves, balloon strip and other decor in the caption of the photos.
This balloon arch we actually created ourselves. It’s actually not too hard to do just very time consuming and lots of balloons to air up. All you need is plenty of balloons in the colors you desire and a Balloon Arch Decorating Strip which can be found at party city!
All the leafy vines, palms, and figs you see placed in the arch and else where I purchased from Amazon. The custom banner with Winston’s name on it I found on Etsy. I absolutely love it. It was a perfect fit for the shower and an even better fit in his nursery!
I loved that we were able to make the place feel personal by adding a sweet verse that we pray over Winston and some photos of Dill and I.
The venue of my shower was really something that had to be well thought out. Coming from hispanic culture there’s really no such thing as a small party. Especially in the occasion of baby number 1. So I knew the place needed to be a good size, I wanted the place to have natural light because PICTURES and who doesn’t love some good lighting, and I wanted a place that would feel comfortable and relaxed. Luckily I knew the perfect place. My childhood bestie and forever bestie Emily’s house. The house we grew up in, had endless sleepovers in, had our pre-prom party at and so much more is now also the place I had my first baby shower in. Thinking about it really makes me emotional. I am so thankful to Em’s sweet Momma for allowing me to throw my shower there. It was THE perfect venue for the most perfect day.
Check out all those gorgeous windows. Talk about the best natural lighting! ♥
I had a hard time choosing what to serve for food. Brunch is usually my go to, I love brunch but since I had a 2pm shower I had to choose something that better fit the time of day. Of course scrolling through Pinterest I found the perfect fit. A sandwich bar with all the fixings, different types of bread, cheeses, meats and a variety of chips to choose from. I loved this idea because I felt like it definitely went with the whole safari theme and it was something easy for us to do but still fulfilling for my guest!
For beverages we did a green sherbet punch and mini water bottles that were wrapped with a cute little banner that my husband created that had safari animals and Winston’s name on them for a cute touch. Sadly I don’t have photos of them but they were super cute!
If you know me, you know I am all about desserts! Of course we had to have a cake but not just a cake was not going to cut it for this occasion. I decided to have all my favorites! Macaroons, candy apples, bundt cakes, cookies and a yummy fruit mix of strawberries, pineapple and grapes that my momma makes. I wanted my guest to have options! ♥
I was so pleased with my cake and cookies! I mean look at them! Aren’t they so well done? They were both done by Short and Sweets! I’ll link their Facebook page on the pics below. I highly recommend them. The talent, taste and the service was great!
Thank You Guest:
I can’t say thank you enough to all who came and contributed toward our new season and celebrated our Winston. Dillon and I feel very blessed to have so many people in our corner who believe in us, pray for us and love us. We are so excited for what is to come for our growing family.
For party favors we did a baggie full of animal crackers with a “Thank You” tag that my guest could grab on their way out the door. It was something simple and sweet that I was happy to do to thank my guest for coming. The photo below, I saw the idea on Pinterest and just had to do it. It is such a good idea because now when I am ready to send my thank you’s I have one less step to do. Thank you for helping this momma to be out!
All My Ladies:
All the ladies in the photos below are just some of the ones who contributed to making this dream shower possible. Thank you beautiful ladies for making us feel so loved and special. I love and appreciate each of you very much.
Devyn Perez who has been my friend since early high school was the beauty who captured this special day for me. Devyn will forever be my favorite and lifelong photographer. She is extremely talented. Check her out at lulajune.pixieset.com/g. Thanks so much Devlin.♥
If you’re wondering where Dillon was during the shower he actually had a diaper party at our house the same day and time that he very much enjoyed! Of course he took absolutely no photos. Men…SMH. But I heard they had a great time.
Thanks for reading dolls! Please feel free to comment any questions you may have. I hope you enjoyed a look into my baby shower.
Love, Mia. ♥
